Full farm experience, local produce and horse riding!
There’s no better way to experience what happens on an Australian farm than a visit to Mowbray Park. With a rich history dating back to the early days of the European settlement in Australia, the Farm has been running since 1822 and shares both traditional and modern farming with visitors.
There are a number of activities and experiences offered at the farm for every member of the family!
A Day on the Farm
A day visit to Mowbray is full of fun for the whole family and a great learning experience for both the little ones and those not so familiar with life on the farm. Activities vary from day to day and can look something like:
Tractor ride to the nursery; feeding a variety of outdoor animals, collecting some eggs; milking a cow; tending to the needs of the small nursery animals; Pony rides (under 8yrs); billy tea and damper making (around the camp fire). You might also spend some of the morning throwing a boomerang, cracking a stock whip heading out to feed some horses or cattle or sheep, watching a sheep shearing demonstration or even a natural horsemanship demonstration, so much to do on the farm!
You’ll also get quality time with all of the animals including donkeys, alpacas, sheep, pigs, ducks and enjoy a scenic horse or pony ride. If you are super lucky (and come at the right time) you might even get to see baby animals in the nursery.
There are also activities available in the afternoon such as archery, canoeing, tennis, swimming, bush walks, fishing (BYO rod) and mountain biking (BYO Bike).
The day visit experience has two lunch options; fully catered with local produce (dietary requirements are welcome) or a BYO picnic.
After lunch the optional Natural Horsemanship Experience begins at 1.30pm which includes an introduction to NHS, demonstration and tuition then a leisurely ride with some more natural horsemanship experiences ($90 pp 8yrs and above. Minimum 4 riders).

Horse and Pony Rides
Experiencing the farm by horseback is one for the memory books and there are options available for kids through to adults.
At Mowbray Park the horses enjoy a more leisurely life introducing many to the joy of a first ride or reacquainting adults with childhood dreams. The farms horses like nothing better than to head out on a trail ride, it’s a life of purpose retracing their ancestral footsteps. If you have never heard of Natural Horsemanship before then you are in for a treat when you choose to ride the Mowbray Park Farm Stay horses. The sublime art of ‘love, language & leadership’ far exceeds the ‘fear, force & intimidation’ which has been the life for some horses, but not here.
You need to be 8 years of age or over to participate in the horse ride experience (4 riders minimum).
Your Natural Horsemanship Experience at Mowbray Park includes a demonstration with explanations, tuition and a trail ride, allow minimum 90 minutes once you’re at our horse yards. Arrive 15 minutes before so you can complete registration at our office. The hour long horse ride will take riders (over the age of 8) through the farm trail on one of Mowbray’s gorgeous and friendly horses. Helmets are provided.
Pony rides are an important experience for young ones to grow a love of horses. Rides are available for kids under the age of 8 and Tillie, Bonnie, Jamie or Bella will take great care to walk at a steady pace to keep the kids feeling safe. Helmets will be provided (and don’t forget the camera mum!).
Mowbray Park Farm also caters for school trips, larger group visits and private events and functions. A range of accommodation options are also available.
